Welcome to the Dorset Moth Group Web site!

The purpose of the Dorset Moth Group is to bring together all those interested in moths in Dorset, and to promote the importance of moths as an indicator of bio-diversity and habitat health.  Although records are warmly welcomed for publication on this site, it is essential that records are sent to the County Recorders by observers each year, preferably in tabular form.  Feel free to download the DMG approved spreadsheet, created by Les Hill, click here.

Trips and Holidays -  see new feature called Trips and Holidays - Hungary and France 2008 to be added shortly.  Please let me have any articles or species lists for moths while on holiday in the UK or abroad.

Fancy c.450 species of butterfly and a few moths....one to think about for the cold winter months, a field-trip to Cameroon, 8 - 23 January 2010, led by the esteemed Hungarian lepidopterist Szabolcs Sáfián.  "If it is half as good as the Ghana trip last November which was also led by Safi, it will prove to be an unforgettable experience" says Peter Davey, Dorset County Recorder.  Follow link for Cameroon trip details, and here for report on the Ghana trip.

Moths of Dorset - edited data on status, distribution, occurrences and flight-time, with photos, now available on this website, and being added to, the macros almost complete now, follow link

Requests - Please let me have any earliest dates for featured species, this year and previous years if possible, to update the 'earliest dates' table.
